About

Welcome to my ABOUT page. Here you can learn a little more about the man behind the blog. First and foremost let me say I do actually live in the woods of Tennessee. I moved here in 2010 and it’s one of the best places I have ever lived. It’s quiet, peaceful, full of animals and has a tremendous amount of natural beauty.

Now, a little about me. One of the reasons I moved here in 2010 was that I snapped. The pressure at work was just too much. Personally I believe that was intentional but that leads me to my second revelation. I was confirmed by a psychologist as suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. In most cases I am quite normal. However, under stress, I can become quite irrational. When I told my children, both of whom I love dearly, that I had been diagnosed and was seeking help, they both said it was about time. *laughs* I won’t go into detail but it seems I was dealing with this all my life and it was obvious to everyone but me. I understand that’s not terribly unusual. So, today I live peacefully, in the woods of Tennessee, with my dogs, cat, birds, turkey, deer and those animals I have come to realize are part of my delusion, fun as it may be, a Bobcat, Ferret and Wolf.  Yes, I see them regularly.

Just to let you know that I’m not completely off my nut, I have worked for large corporations like Corning Glass and Coca-Cola in Atlanta Georgia. All my life I have been driven and I have been quite successful. Where I worked at Corning Glass actually built the mirror for the Hubble Space Telescope and I have actually touched it. I have also written for a large daily newspaper and had a successful tech call in show in Syracuse, NY. So my affliction still allowed me to be mostly normal. Mostly. *laughs*

Now that I am retired I have decided to write. Needless to say I have a vivid imagination. When you can have an actual conversation with a Wolf who has been a sizable part of your life since age 12 I guess it goes to figure you have an imagination. Most of the short stories I write revolve around animals with human characteristics. Now you can understand why. Many of them have characteristics of the animals I talk with near daily. For example, my friend Maleen is a Ferret. Do not make the mistake of calling her a weasel! You will not hear the end of how demeaning that is and why she is NOT a weasel! She is a Ferret! You get the idea.

I started this blog to give people an idea of what life here in Tennessee is like. I find it a way to connect with people safely and without pressure. I find it a way to share some of the insights my companions share with me. Whether you believe them to be real or not, they are real to me. Whether they are real or not they have a unique perspective and a wisdom they share that has allowed me to see the world through different eyes.

Maybe it’s all a delusion. If so it’s one I embrace because it has made me a better person. I hope, through my stories and this blog, you can get just a little taste of the unique perspective they have shared with me.

Thanks for visiting and taking the time to read.

My first book, “Changes”, is a collection of short stories. It can be found on Smashwords.
